FINAL REFLECTION

What have I learnt in this module?

During this module, I've learnt the definition of design principles and how to detect them in other different artworks. The procedure of visual analysing was also taught in our second task. From observation, to analysing to interpretation. That taught me how to see what an artist is trying to say and to appreciate each artwork differently. Lastly, I also learnt how to apply them in my own artwork.

What did I enjoy the most?

I personally enjoyed creating my artwork the most in the final task. It was a very "open" task where we could design what we wanted to. Therefore I felt like I could express what I wanted to spread awareness about through my artwork, which was to spread awareness regarding the 13th UNSDG - Climate action. I also enjoyed analysing the artwork in task 2. It made me realise that there are many details in artworks that a person cannot catch in just one glance.

What did I not enjoy the most?

Ironically, I did not enjoy sketching the most which is also in the final task. I personally believe that my drawing skills are not the best, so sketching was a challenge for me. It took me quite some time to think about ideas and how I can portray what I am trying to express which got me frustrated. I even scrapped off the first 5 that I initially drew and restarted again. However after doing some trial and error, I managed to draw a few that I am satisfied with.

What have I learnt about myself through this module?

Throughout this module, I learnt that I am good at analysing and observing details. I also noticed that I am more of a visual learner, looking at examples along with the design principle's help me understand each one better. I also learnt that I have good time management as I do not rush through my assignments and complete them on time.

What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?

I think during this learning journey, I definitely took in more knowledge and learnt more basics of design. I believe this journey also helped me with my communication skills as I was able to make more friends despite all the tasks being individual tasks. 

What could be improved in this module?

I think overall this module is already pretty good as it is. However if there is something that I think could be changed would be the timing of the class, because most of the time during class was just waiting for my turn to consult with the lecturer. I also think that maybe there could be a group task so that it would be easier for classmates to get to know each other better.
