1. LECTURES

Week 5: Card Sorting

In class, Mr. Sylvain said that Project 2 is more focused on analysis. What we learned today is that the information architecture map reflects how users think; the user journey map shows what motivates users to download and use the app; the user flow chart explains how users interact with the app; and the MVP feature defines the minimum viable product—what is needed to attract early adopters and validate the product idea early in the development cycle. After the lecture, all groups were required to present their card-sorting results in class.

Week 6: User Experience Research

My  presented our card-sorting results from last week. Mr. Sylvain introduced the concept of user experience research, covering various research methods and how to conduct proper user research. He also summarized and reflected on the previous week's card-sorting activity. This week’s task is to create a set of online and interview questionnaires. Our user-testing plan must include interviews with 6 participants and an online survey with at least 50 responses.

Week 7: UI/UX Design Document

Mr. Sylvain prepared the lecture slides and shared additional learning materials. Our responsibilities this week include finalizing the questionnaire questions (for both the survey and interviews), conducting the interviews, distributing the online survey, and developing at least three user personas.

2.INSTRUCTIONS

Requirement

After locking down their App concept and idea, students are now ready to proceed to UX design. The students are required to produce a comprehensive UX design document which will provide better directions for them to design the app.

Based on the information gathered in task 1, students will:
  • Determine and verify their target audiences.
  • Outline the content element of their app, and exercise card sorting method to achieve optimum information architecture.
  • Listing the app features and identifying the application Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
  • Create wireframes for main screens.
  • Plan the user interaction and interactivity (Flow chart)

Progress

We were instructed by Mr. Sylvain to conduct 5 interviews with the potential user, each with 20+ minutes. Instead of getting into the detail features of the selected app, we were encouraged to understand the user and their life/ problems/opinions.

                                         Interview question

From the interview transcript, I did the first draft sorting.

I created a journey map corresponding to each interviewee's journey.

After receiving feedback from Mr. Sylvain, I consolidated the summaries for all personas into one.
