Task 1: App Design 1 Self-Evaluation and Reflection
-
We must perform a self-evaluation and reflection based on our Mobile Application Design I final project. The goal is to identify issues, propose improvements to the app’s aesthetic and user flow, and document the refining process. are required to submit the documentation via Google Docs for feedback purposes.
- Write a self-reflection blog post comparing the old and new app designs.
- Refer to example blogs from past students for guidance.
During the previous semester, a redesign project was conducted on the Trevo application focusing on its iconography and overall user interface (UI) design. Initial observations revealed that some of Trevo’s existing icons were inconsistent, unclear in meaning, and lacked visual hierarchy, which potentially caused user confusion and slowed navigation. Furthermore, certain interface elements did not align with current design trends or accessibility standards, reducing usability for a diverse group of users.
The redesign project aimed to improve the clarity, consistency, and aesthetics of the interface by developing a cohesive set of icons and refining UI components such as navigation bars, buttons, and layout structures. This research dissertation builds on that project to critically analyze how design changes can impact user experience, especially in the context of a mobile car rental application.
By combining primary research (e.g., usability testing and user surveys) and secondary research (e.g., literature review on UX design principles, icon design theories, and usability standards), this study seeks to provide insights into the relationship between visual design and user behavior. The outcome of this dissertation not only aims to improve Trevo’s current interface but also contributes to a broader understanding of design strategies for digital sharing economy platforms.
