LECTURES

Week 9 - 19/11/2024

Today we learnt how to activate the animation and change the colour of a component when it is scanned. We also learnt how to add a pointer in the middle so we don't have to guess where the middle of the screen is in order to scan a component. Then at the end, Sir asked us to switch the animation of the components. Which means when the cube is scanned then the sphere will play an animation and vice versa. After that, he gave us a brief on task 3 and ended the class.

INSTRUCTION

What we have to do:
- Exploration: Make sure the features in your app works.

- Do the main features of the app first

AR Feature 1:  scan

When you scan the artefact it will appear on your screen in 3d.

I first worked on the feature where you scan an artifact, and a 3D model of it appears in front of you. I successfully made the model display, but I struggled with getting the recognition process to work properly. Initially, I thought it required coding or some advanced technical setup. After spending quite some time researching and experimenting, I realized I only needed to optimize the image recognition settings and adjust the input paramet

After that, I implemented a "View More" button, where clicking it shows detailed information and background stories about the artifact. I also added a "Back" button to return to the main menu and a "Next" button to scan other artifacts. However, I’m still working on improving these features to make

Next, I created new pages for each artifact, with dedicated sections that introduce their background and origins. Each artifact has its own unique page, providing users with a more in-depth understanding of its history and significance.

What is left to be done:
So far, I’ve implemented some basic features of the Library interface, such as displaying a 3D model of an artifact. However, there are still several things left to complete. For example, I need to fully implement interactive features like moving and rotating the artifact. Additionally, I plan to add more artifact models to the Library. The interface itself also requires further refinement to make it more user-friendly and visually appealing.

FEEDBACK

  • Include a clear “Start Scanning” button on the main screen, guiding users into the AR mode with a straightforward action.
  • Position the “Next” button to the right side of the screen for consistency with common navigation patterns, and ensure it has a recognizable icon and color scheme.
  • After a successful scan, if you want users to scan another artifact, consider adding a “Rescan” button at the bottom of the AR interface. This approach reduces unnecessary returns to the main menu and streamlines the user journey.
